Who Am I

This is not a philosophy question. I am simply here to introduce myself.

Buying and selling luxury items can carry great risks, basically, because everything is expensive. When I get in touch with potential customers, most of the time (especially when an item is ultra-expensive), I will do a quick and simple research at least to identify that my buyers are legit. Because of this reason, I think it is simply fair that you know me too. And when I talk to buyers, I found that some of them were genuinely interested in what I do, or they come from similar fields of profession. So I always found it an enjoyable thing to introduce myself a bit to my potential buyers.

Selling is actually only a part-time job of mine. My main job is a student, a writer, and a researcher.

Right now, I am pursuing my PhD degree in East Asian Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I study the politics, culture, and economy of emotion (the technical term is "affect theory"), collective actions, journalism and digital media, and global trades. Earlier this year, in May 2026, I defended my dissertation, which is about the Chinese contemporary memory of the '89 Tiananmen Protest. After the defense, these days, I am revising my dissertation and then will deposit it by the end of 2026, and that will be the end of my PhD study.

Since 2025, I have been working with one of my advisors on auto-ethnography writings, and I plan to work on more AE projects related to feminism, fashion, and global trades continuously after I graduate. I sometimes travel for conferences, that's usually my time-aways from my business. I also spend a lot of time doing job applications in both academia and the industry. My goal is to do practical research based on industrial experiences, and also to expand my business further. (I know that my customer circle is full of successful women and men, if you have a job offer that you found suitable, please hit me up!)

In my spare time, I am a big TV show watcher. I love the British TV series Slow Horses and the Clarkson's Farm. I liked Silo series a lot and am very much looking forward to its last season upcoming next year. White Lotus series has always been fun too, and I am such a big fan of Jennifer Coolidge. Other shows that I enjoyed watching include Sex and the City, Portlandia, Your Friends & Neighbors, Veep, and so on and so forth...

I love gardening, mostly with the harvesting part.

To keep myself busy enough, I am also working on my realtor license...
